-1 account, this is my second of three. CCP didn't listen when we posted on the forum to undo the 0.0 anomaly nerf...well now I'm voting with my $$...maybe CCP can hear me now?
<rant> And Incarna...LOL what a load of bloat-ware. CQ...watched it for 5 minutes then shut it off and boy am I MAD that with it off I don't get back my old station interiors. Stop doing things just because you can. CCP is at the "shoot the founders" stage of corporate development and if they don't change their course quickly, their failure will be as spectacular as their success *was*. Without the isk I was making from 0.0 anoms, this game is no longer fun for me to play. Just to be clear, I pay by the year, all my isk goes to buying in game items, none is used for plex/play time that's too much like a job and I already have one of those.
Listen up CCP...make the game fun again.. make everyone pay for at least a few accounts with RM...kill the botters or let us do it in high sec :) and maybe you'll get back on course.
Need for speed should also improve the rate of game play... don't forget you have a lot of mature players that can't grind cruiser kills for 12 hours a day. We want to be able to accomplish something and earn some reward in no more than a few hours (at best).
In worshiping the "almighty new content" you've forgotten that people enjoy a product that works correctly too...yeah the glory is in all the "new cool stuff" but attention to detail and fixing bugs engenders a sense of quality that frankly CCP's never had.
When I realease an application into one of our datacenters, if the deployment is scheduled for 8 hours and at 4 hours we are not 50% complete, I have to at least begiun to think about implementing my rollback plan. Do you guys even create a rollback plan? Not that I've seen because you routinely run hours over your allotted outage...no matter how bad it's going CCP only has forward gears...no reverse. If the release is going badly...STOP...rollback...restore the old environment...communicate clearlty to the customer base what happened and why you rolled back...do a post mortem on the release...get the root cause...resolve it...and try again next week.
Stop bragging that you design game features while drinking pitchers at the pub and scribbling lines of code on cocktail napkins...that only impresses the 13 year olds...the rest of us thank God you aren't building cars because the shoddy workmanship and lack of testing would result in so many deaths CCP would be sued out of existance.
You are no longer the new kid on the block with loose cannon programmers and innovative, out of the box ideas sticking it to the man...it's 8 years later..now you are "the man" and you're being held to different standards. Eve is the gold standard, the Cadillac of sci-fi MMORPGs...but if you can't grasp the transition that's happening you will fail. Seen it many times before across many IT industries.
And finally (nearing the end of my rant) if you continue the arrogance that only CCP can determine where Eve develops then I suggest you take Eve off the internet and put it on a private VLAN where only CCP can log in and play. That is the only situation where you can blatantly ignore your customers and survive. Any company that thinks they can ignore the customer base is not long for this world.
I do wish you luck because even with the numerous wrong turns that Eve has taken here recently, imho Eve is still the best game out there. </rant>
